I just finished making my way through all 8 of the MGMAT guides. So far I've just been doing the review problems at the end and skipping the sections that refer to OG12. Anyways I took my first diagnostic GMAT (one from the GMAC prep program) and in the quant section I primarily missed DS questions. I missed several touching on geometry and number theory, but I also missed several other DS covering other topics as well. I don't seem to have much trouble with PS problems in those areas though. I was wondering if anyone has any strategies or tips to improve performance on DS questions?
Also for the verbal section, all but one of the problems I missed were on SC. I'm a native English speaker, but I've always sucked at grammar. I read a book "English Grammar for Dummies" before I started studying for the GMAT and I made flash cards and took careful notes while going through MGMAT SC. I've seen suggestions to read books to get a feel for correct grammar usage, but I am a native English speaker and I'm fairly well read so I'm not sure if that strategy will help me.

You did the first gmat prep without going through the OG questions?? If this is the case then I'll suggest to revise the number properties book of MGMAT & solve all the OG questions too. For DS, practice is the key. I hope after going through the OG problems, you will boost your DS success rate.
For verbal again SC needs practice for pattern recongnition apart from basic concepts. So practice is the key & also do take the OG questions.

Thanks Hussain. For SC I think part of what I need to do is just practice identifying what part of speech different parts of a sentence are (ex: simple gerund, complex gerund, progressive past perfect, etc). Do you know of any resource that has a bunch of sentences and then also identifies what part of speech each word is, so I can see if I'm identifying things correctly.?
