I just did the first of four online CAT tests that are available to me with my Kaplan GMAT Premier book, and scored 730. How good is this, as in how does this score correlate with the toughness of the actual GMAT? What can I expect?

Details:
Overall: 730
Overall Percentile: 96
Quantitative: 55
Quantitative Percentile: 99
Verbal: 37
Verbal Percentile: 81

(I had about 15 minutes to spare in Quantitative, but *just* managed to finish Verbal)

Wow your score is great!!that too u have made it in kaplan!!there scoring pattern is pretty tougher that GMAT prep may be 20 points or so..

Great work i will say try to give one GMAT prep too....that will help u analayse ur performance better!!!

wow not sure how you got a 55 on quant? but it is a good score - obviously you know where you need to work on. Dont let it go over your head though since this is only practice. Try the diagnostic to see where you stand since that is more of a real test. Keep going at it and dont get overconfident!!!

Is 55 in quant even possible? I also received ridiculous scores from Kaplan, I wouldn't look into them too much.

I dunno :|

I checked the details, and I got 3 answers incorrect (out of 37) in Quantitative. I guess if I had gotten these right as well, the score would've been 60. So Kaplan - unlike GMAC - perhaps allows a perfect 60 scaled score.

55 in quant ?!

when i gave my kaplan test, i got 36 out of 37 questions correct and it gave me a 97 percentile in quant .... so strange to see you got 3 wrong and a 99 percentile after that

I must have gotten like a 400 level question wrong :P

Based on my experiences, my Kaplan scores were right in the middle of what I actually scored on the exam. So, from an overall score perspective, I feel like they are dead on. However, I also received some wonky subject specific numbers, so my advice is to just ignore those.

Also want to note, that I feel like Kaplan's exams were the most similar to the real GMAT! I'm sure you'll do great on the real thing!

I am not sure the Kaplan scores are reliable. I took 3 CATs which came with the CD/online companion of the 2011 book. I had scores ranging from 730-800 (quant 54-55 and verbal from 36-55). I dont think 55 is possible in the real GMAT. And the tests are not even good from a practice point of view, the quant is ridiculously easy..

I heard the Kaplan scoring improved a lot though, if anything it should underrate your score.

the most reliable is the GMAC diags. I think kaplan is reliable enough that it is ok - not many people complain about it

I'm starting to have a doubt on Kaplan Premier's CAT tests. Just took a second CAT, and got the following scores:

Overall: 780
Overall Percentile: 99
Quantitative: 55
Quantitative Percentile: 99
Verbal: 51
Verbal Percentile: 99

(Again, I had slightly over 15 minutes to spare in Quantitative, but *just* managed to finish Verbal). Awkwardly, the Verbal percentile/score in my second CAT differs *significantly* from what I got in the first CAT.

i wouldnt go by kaplan scores at all, especially quant. the gmat prep tests are pretty close to the actual exam the next best indicators in my experience were mgmat scores even though they were quite far from what i scored.
my real gmat score was within 5 points of my gmat prep scores.

Yup, I have this nice tool bookmarked in my GMAT/MBA bookmarks. Will feed it with information about 2-3 days before I take the real GMAT.

Result of the Kaplan Premier CAT 3 (I finished it ~5 minutes back):

Overall: 750
Overall Percentile: 98
Quantitative: 54
Quantitative Percentile: 99
Verbal: 44
Verbal Percentile: 97

(I had over 20 minutes to spare in Quantitative, but again, I *just* managed to finish Verbal).

Result of Manhattan GMAT free CAT (I finished it ~5 minutes back):

Overall: 730
Overall Percentile: 97
Quantitative: 49
Quantitative Percentile: 90
Verbal: 40
Verbal Percentile: 91

(I had no spare time in either section. Manhattan GMAT's free CAT - especially the Quantitative section - felt significantly tougher than any of Kaplan Premier CAT tests that I've taken so far).
