I guess it depends on how long you take to answer a question, but in general, when you are on the test, do you ever double check the math, or reread the question or whatnot?

From practical standpoint, I doubt whether time permits double checking a question. One has to practice to do problems right on the first pass in my opinion.
For math questions, I think there is a logical sequence of steps: (1) Concentrate and read carefully on the question stem, make sure to understand what the question is asking, and identify any traps; and (2) perform the calculation.
It does not make sense to do step (2) before step (1) is complete.
Through practices, I kind of developed a sense of my set of common/silly mistakes – for example, reading question stem to fast and jump into calculate; pay attention to some tricky keywords (GMAT test writes are good to write tricky questions).

I find it's just better to take the time you need on a problem than to double check. You only have about 2 minutes anyway. Just go through it, rmake sure you read everything carefully. I don't really think the extra time is worth it.
