1 mile = 1760 yards
220 yards = 220/1760 = 0.125 miles

.125 = 45* t
t = .125/45 hrs
t= .125 * 3600/45
t = 10 sec

rate = 45 miles / hr

rate in sec = 45 /3600 miles/sec

Distance in miles 220 yards,

1 mile = 1760 yards
1 yard = 1/1760
220 yards = 220 /1760 yards

t = Distance / speed
= $$\frac{220}{1760} * \frac{3600}{45}$$

= 10

Rate = 45 kms/ hour

Or, $$\frac{45}{3600}$$ kms/second ----- (I)

Distance = 220 yards

Or, $$\frac{220}{1760}$$miles -------(II)

Time = $$\frac{45}{3600}*\frac{1760}{220}$$

Solving this we get ,

Time = 10 seconds

We see that 220 yards is 220/1760 = 22/176 = 11/88 = 1/8 miles.

Thus, the number of hours it will take to travel 1/8 miles at 45 mph is:

(1/8)/45 = 1/(45 x 8) = 1/360 hours, which is (1/360) x 3600 = 10 seconds
