I'm planning to take the GMAT in late August and took the GMAT Prep practice exam today, April 16. I scored a 580 on the practice (33 Quant and 37 Verbal) and plan to follow a plan I found on this site that suggests two hours of studying a night plus five hours on the weekend.
I haven't taken a math class since high school (journalism major looking to change gears), but I've always been good at math... just need to refresh my memory bank on some formulas and basic rules. I did zero studying for the diagnostic test I took.
At any rate, I'm trying to gauge how much I can expect to improve my score. Is a 700 unrealistic?
Appreciate the help.

700 seems to be realistic if you score 580 at first attempt.
Try to increase your math score, it is doable.
you will need at least 48 in Q to have 700. see in my signature the transformation table.

580 is decent given the time you have in hand; what material are you using, my test date is 8th sept; so arnd same time as yours; can u post ur study plan if possible, I will share mine and we could be tracking our progress in conjunction.
