How to go about researching a Business School's personality and the industry most alumni are in post-MBA? I want to work in outdoor apparel/ equipment brands post my MBA which is a retail-focused industry (not a very popular career choice). From what I understand some schools are known for certain USPs like Michigan is known for supply chain management. Also, certain universities look for certain kinds of industry exp/ extra curricular/ personality of the ideal candidate. How can I research these as there is no information on these on B-school websites?

Hello KajalKatariya,

Thanks for writing in.

You should focus on rankings, employment reports, and networking with alumni (seek information interviews on LinkedIn). Yes, schools have their own USPs; yes, your area of interest is a niche one; focus on schools around hubs. However, in finding schools that sync well with your goals, do try and understand that not many schools will offer such focused electives and concentrations; you will need to focus on a broader domain.

All the best!
