Can you suggest me the novels ? I do read but I am not sure if I am picking the right ones. Obviously I dont read Chetan Bhagat, have been reading Malcolm Gladwell, Harper Lee, Mark Lewisberg, Sheryl Sand, Charles Dickens, celeste Ng stuff. Sometimes, I also try my hands on Economist. I guess now i need to work on comprehension part more. Thanks for the advice :)

Hi Sheetal15,

Before I we move to strategies to ace RC, I would like to understand the following:
    1. In which company’s mock test did you get 610?
    2. What were the sub-sectional scores from that test?
    3. What is your target Verbal score?

Strategies to Ace RC

We had conducted a free webinar last weekend on strategies to ace RC. I am sharing the recording of that session and some files from our Free Trial for you to learn from. A lot more of these files are available in your Free Trial dashboard.

Hope this helps!

Hi Aditee,
1. It was Veritas
2. Q50 , V24
So my SC and CR questions attempted wrong because of my first RC I consumed 15 mins.
And so I rushed in the last questions.
CR 6 right 5 wrong 55%
RC 5 right 7 wrong 42%
SC 8 right 5 wrong 62%

Hi Sheetal
Im not expert but very happy to share with you my experience. I used to struggle with RC for the long time.
To improve RC, you must clarify 2 things.

1. Your Reading ability: if you are weak at this, poor you. You must work extremely hard to improve it. It cannot be improved immediately. You must consistently work day by day during for your prep. My reading ability is also weak when i prepared GMAT. After following BB (gmatclub founder) advice, I started reading Novel. That decision mostly contributes to my very long road. Reading ability is important not only for RC but also CR and SC.
Only one way to improve; read read and read

2. Your strategy: You should work and find a effective way to read and practice your skills.
For me, I read slowly, take note to follow author thought. I thinjk that reading fastly cannot save time. When you read fastly, you dont understand and read again. it costs your time and confidence.
Thankyou so much. Have started the great Gatsby

For RC - the best way to improve is to practice.

I highly recommend Harvard Magazine articles? Why? Because they have a lot of short articles - that are very similar to what you might see on the GMAT exam -- usually 4-6 paragraphs citing some kind of social or science research.

Favorite this:
https://harvardmagazine.com/topic/Research

Look for where it says: "Select a topic:" - Humanities, Social Science, Science, International

Go to the above link and read some of the articles. You'll see these are almost the exact topics you will see on the actual GMAT exam.

Here's one example:

https://harvardmagazine.com/2018/02/how ... lationship

Are you able to quickly read through it - ideally without reading every word - and identify WHO is writing it and WHY they are writing it - WHAT's the whole point to the author spending time to write these passages?

These are great for RC comprehension - with practice, time management becomes a non-issue.

This is what we recommend for our students!

You can also get more RC Practice with our online question bank:

https://www.gmatpill.com/gmat-practice-t ... questions/

---and the best material for RC is saved for our RC Pill course where we actually walk through dozens of RC passages showing you where to read and where not to read.

Just look for "Vishal" under the "Verbal Improvement" tab of

-- read his story (and video) about RC improvement.
