AWA is not very important but if you get AWA 3.0 and GMAT 750, there will be a big dilemma: to retake or not to retake GMAT... So, I would suggest to spend your time a bit on AWA but not so much (!)

Hi There! Welcome to GMAT Club.
AWA score has no importance for admission really. The main purposes for AWA are the following:
- Establish your basic writing ability
- Evaluate your argumentative skills
- Get a sample of your writing to compare to your essays should there be any question down the road
Most schools don't really look at the AWA score or read the essays (they will get a copy; you will not). However, they will if there is a discrepancy or if your AWA score is too low.
Think of it as a checkmark - if you can get higher than 4.0, you should be good.
