Hi!

Here is a absolutely great and helpful post: how-to-get-6-0-awa-my-guide-64327.html

AWA is not very important but if you get AWA 3.0 and GMAT 750, there will be a big dilemma: to retake or not to retake GMAT... So, I would suggest to spend your time a bit on AWA but not so much (!)

Hi There! Welcome to GMAT Club.
AWA score has no importance for admission really. The main purposes for AWA are the following:
• Establish your basic writing ability
• Get a sample of your writing to compare to your essays should there be any question down the road

Most schools don't really look at the AWA score or read the essays (they will get a copy; you will not). However, they will if there is a discrepancy or if your AWA score is too low.
Think of it as a checkmark - if you can get higher than 4.0, you should be good.

Try to write about 30 essays before the test, using the 6.0 AWA templates by chineseburned.
After this you will feel yourself comfortable.

I am also struggling with the essay writing. Being a journalism major I wasn't even going to review this. but I think I'm having trouble organizing my thoughts into concise points that make up the essay.

How important is it that I do well on these if I'm really just trying to do mediocre on the test. Do you think reading over the essay compilations would help me get ideas for writing a better essay?

I'm a decent writer but I think I write differently than what they are grading.....

Thanks.
