Hello everyone,

I am applying to deferred entry tracks out of college. Consequently, my professional experience is limited to internships of 1-3 months length. Most applications ask for an annual salary; am I supposed to scale my internship salaries to 12 months or just report the total sum I earned over the 1-3 months?

Would be very grateful for some advice.

Hello Lfb,

Ideally, you should only mention the salary you have earned and not scale the same to 12 months. See if there is an Optional Essay or any other space, where you can address this issue for the benefit of the school in question.

Thanks for writing in.

Ideally one should not scale this up because that would be technically wrong. You could, however, write to the Admission Committee to be doubly sure about this.

Each school will have a different approach. You should send a brief email or put in a quick call to the AdCom of the schools to which you are applying. Ask them if want you to annualize your internship salary or leave it as is.

Either way, it does not really matter. Your decision will absolutely not hinge on how much money you made in an internship. So many are not even paid!
