I'm want to start my GMAT preparation from coming week.
with so much information on Gmatclub I'm feeling lost already.
could anyone please tell me step by step process as to how to do it? For ex.where to take 1st CAT for right assessment of current level and then which best books, resources to use and so on?

Hello rajesh1997,
I understand so much information on this forum, it can be overwhelming. Let's go step by step and each phase you should have a milestone to achieve.
1. Take a mock test - Register yourself on
https://www.mba.com. They have 2 free tests - go ahead and take GMATPrep 1
- Doing this will give you a good understanding of the test. You will get a hang on the quality of questions and where you stand. It's important to get a base score so that you know how much effort/improvement is required.
2. Plan out what mode of prep suits you. If you have access to
classroom programs in your city you might want to explore that. Or you are looking for
self prep and flexibility you could explore an online course too.
3. Your first milestone should be going through all
the Official Guide Questions. Remember the time you spend on the prep is NOT directly proportional to the score you get.
So focus on smart work. You will notice that in
the official guide the first 50-70 questions will be easy for you to solve - once you get the concepts in place. The difficulty of the questions will increase post that. Since GMAT is an adaptive test - you have to get better at it and expose yourself to tougher questions.
Let this be a gradual process.
4. Access your prep at every stage.
a) make sure you focus on accuracy, to begin with.
Create an error log and keep analyzing your mistakes.
b) start timing yourself when you start solving questions.
5. Once you are done completing both Quant and verbal - you can start taking full-length tests. Make sure you take each test seriously and do this only when you have completely done with the
quant and the verbal module.
Understand that there are no surprises on this test. It is a standardized test and has a clear scope.
Hope this helps.
