Hi All,
We all know that consulting entails a lot of traveling to client sites. What are your views on COVID-19 impacting consulting.
Also, since the lockdown all consulting firms have moved to work from home - do you think this is the new norm?

There are a couple of sub questions in your post.
1) will consulting be impacted by COVID? Yes absolutely! All industries are going to be impacted. But the good thing is that not all consulting projects require you to work from client sites at all times. This isn’t true. You can be staffed on a local project where you don’t have to travel!
2) Will WFH become the norm? Not really. Yes, some Partners will now be more open to do WFH but this can’t become the norm as you need to have that client interaction to build relationships and sometimes just for ‘optics’

I feel it is a bit early to tell how the consulting industry will perform. For now I have heard of people being overworked in consulting, some taking salary cuts (outside of the US) but I feel in general the consulting companies still have momentum and have not experienced the full impact of the current situation and this have not reacted fully.
At the same time, with so many companies furloughing and firing so much of a work force, it presents an easy and fast option to fill in gaps using consulting companies (both management consulting such as MBB or more technical such as Accenture technical).
I think and hope! The picture will be clear by end of May.
