"However a minimal role in causing air pollution, trash ..."
"trash" is not a minimal role. Hence, incorrect.
Option B - Incorrect.
"With a minimal role in causing air pollution, trash pollutes both land and sea" - Illogical.
the initial modifier ( ... in causing air pollution) does not have any bearing on how trash pollutes land and sea. Two unrelated things.
Option C - Incorrect.
"trash" is not a minimal role. Hence, incorrect.
The usage of "being" is redundant. It can be removed without affecting the meaning of the sentence.
Option D - Incorrect.
"Therefore accounting for a minimal role in causing air pollution, trash pollutes both land and sea ..."
"therefore" indicates a conclusion. There is no cause and effect link between "causing air pollution" and "pollutes land and sea" - Hence, incorrect.
We need to use a contrast indicator here.
