I wouldn't ask Duke unless I was serious about UCLA. I think your decision should be more about your happiness based on location/fit/career prospects, rather than tuition rate.

Well, in this case, the fact that your wife got a nice job offer actually solves the dilemma.
It is just my personal opinion, but I think I would go to Duke so that I can be with my wife.
After all, her CA salary in NC should be able to help the financial strain.

No offense, but in my book you would have to save alot more money than what you're saving to make a two year long distance relationship worth the while. Especially if she's making major bank.
