kryzak this is incredible. Goes to show how much a the location and networks of a school matters (as compared to the the multitudes of rankings that we keep on arguing about in the forums). All the very best with your internship.

thanks guys. svrider, yes, I will be part of the Jedi Academy, though as one of the 3 MBAs out of 30 other undergrad interns. Should be fun though.

bsd, you are perfectly correct. The longer you're in school, the more you realize the rankings are nice and all, but not super useful in terms of getting a job in a very specific area. In the end, unless it's PE/HF, and in some ways, IB/Consulting, the proximity to the companies you want to work for is invaluable, especially during these down times. Even though some companies (like Adobe) stopped doing any campus recruiting this year, being less than 1 hour away means that they've been sending lots of off-campus job postings to us and having us drive there to interview, and many people have been getting jobs that way.

I think we did a quick tally the other day, probably 80-90% of 1st years who want tech internships have gotten one already, and at good companies too (tons at Apple, Microsoft, and Amazon). Not sure about full time jobs though, but I heard those are lower.
