I have about a week to ago and am averaging in the 85-90 overall % in other tests. I took 1 verbal and 1 math test here and it says I am barely average. Either the people here are extremely smart, or I must be pretty bad. Which one is it ?

It (hit rate below 85-90%) could be because you are new to the forum and to the problem sets available. If you practice some more tests, I am sure you will hit your desired range (90+) here too.
also dont consider the percentile u get at gmatclub tests, I was told that it was not really an indicator of ur performance, check number/precentage of correct answers instead.
