Hi folks,
I know this might seem like a no-brainer question since 740 on the GMAT is definitely not a bad score but I have reasons to think that I might have to retake the test.
Firstly, I represent an over-represented population- Indian Male Engineer (academically), although I work as a strategy consultant in the public sector and not in the engineering space. Secondly, I am looking to apply to elite schools such as Wharton, Kellogg, UC Berkeley, Tuck and Yale, which have an average GMAT of up to 730, giving me a mere 10 point boost over their average class scores.
Also, I feel like I can definitely improve my Q49 to a Q50 at least if I put in some more effort on quant unlike my previous time. Given these reasons, Does it make sense for me to retake the GMAT for a 10-20 point increase to stand out from the crowd? Would love your thoughts on this.

varunpaul0505 - First, 740 is a great score on the GMAT. Please understand that the GMAT score is only one of the components for admissions. I recommend that you post a complete profile review in our Ask Admissions Consultants sub-forum.

Hey Varun. I suggest you to improve your profile rather than score. 740 is a good score. Now focus on other things such as recommendation letter, voluntary work, leadership roles, your experience, qualification, certifications, language, hobbies...etc. Prepare for Interviews.
