I took TGV for the first time this February. Brussels to Paris in under two hours - amazing!!! As for the conventional slow moving trains - travelled thousands and thousands of kilometers in those :-D

That sounds cool. I've toured around the US & Canada many many times on the open road, but have never had the opportunity to tour in a train. I bet 10x more people in the US have ridden cruise ships than trains.

If you ever have a chance to tour the US by train this is the way to do it! https://www.americanorientexpress.com/ !

That looks GORGEOUS! :o

It is a wonderful trip. Plus for anyone who has never been to the western US, the national parks out there are spectacular! While everyone is here in the states for school, planning a trip to the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone is a must. Plus, if any of you are avid backpackers let me suggest this trail the John Muir trail https://www.pcta.org/about_trail/muir/over.asp
This trail is very tough to get passes for but is a wonderful trip! :-D

The best Train journeys i had done in my life

1. The GHAN Express in Australia
Travels across the desert for 2 days ..amazing , one should def. do this if they ever happen to be in outback

Some pics from the tourism website

2. The TranzAlpine in New Zealand ( Yes the Small Island of Nzland does have Railways )

One of the most scenic railways i ever travelled

Darden has a pre-matriculation trip to Yellowstone. I've already been so I'll be going on one of the international get togethers, But I agree, anyone coming to attend from another country should definitely visit some national parks if they are able. Put Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon and Yosemite at the tops of the list.
