St 1 - AD = BD=CD means triangle ABD is an equilateral triangle and hence all the angles are equal to 60 there fore x = 30

St 2 - AB = AD = radius of the circle, hence angle ADB = ABD = y = 60

hence x= 30

but the OA in my notes is A ...can someone help ???

I guess you are right mate, I thought again and then realized that I got carried away with the figure which is provided, have a look at the figure which I am attaching,

That will explain, why B is not sufficient.
