Thanks.

I used the same way (almost). Calculated the minimum and maximum value of the range though to check which is the largest range.

since all the denominators are even, decimal conversion worked fine for me.

Dear Bunuel,

Is range matters only?

What about the range away from 1/3 to 1 ie if answer choices contain 3/4 and 6?

I guess difference from lower value to lower limit ( ie 3/4 -1/3) and higher to upper limit ( 6-1) matters. If addition of the difference is less for answer choice then probability of falling that number in the range will be more.

Correct if i;m wrong...

Not sure I can follow you... We are told that a number is between 1/3 and 1 and each answer choices gives range within it...

Could we also do this by looking at which number is closer to 1/3?

Because, the end of the ranges are all close to 1 (0.75 - 0.9).

So, we can look at which one of the fractions is closest to 1/3, which is about 0.3.
And 7/20 is also close to 0.3, so we can say that the number we are looking for will be between 7/20 and 3/4.

At least, this is what I did.. Is there a trap I missed here?
