Let subscription per magazine = x
10x = 24
=> x= 2.4

Let cover price per magazine= c
Since there is a 20% saving on cover prices
.8c=x
=>.8c = 2.4
=>c= 3

Approach I

$24 is a savings of 20 percent of regular price for TEN issues, \(R\)

\(24 = .80R\)

R = \(\frac{24}{.8}=\frac{240}{8}\)= $30

Each issue is \(\frac{$30}{10}=\) $3 per issue

Answer E

Approach 2

If 10 issues = $24, each issue is

\(\frac{$24}{10} =$2.40\)

This price is a savings of 20 percent of the regular price per issue, \(r\)

\(2.4 = .8r\)

\(r =\frac{$2.4}{.8} = \frac{$24}{8} =$3.00\)

Ultra-Fast Route,

(X-24)/X = 20%
X-24 = 0.2X
0.8X = 24
X = 30

We can create the following equation in which n = full cost for the magazine:

24 = 0.8n

240/8 = n

30 = n

So, the regular cost per issue is 30/10 = $3.00.

Subscription cost per magazine= \(\frac{24}{10}\)= 2.4
Let the cover price per issue= x
0.8x= 2.4

x= \(\frac{2.4}{0.8}\)= 3

So cover price per issue= $3.

Answer: E.

Kudos please if you like my explanation!

24 - 80% of the cover price of 10 issues => the cover price of 10 issues is $30

Hence, the cover price per issue is $30/10 = $3
