Question Stats:

### HideShow timer Statistics

If A, then B.
If B, then C.
If C, then D.

If all of the statements above are true, which of the following must also be true?

(A) If D, then A.
(B) If not B, then not C.
(C) If not D, then not A.
(D) If D, then E.
(E) If not A, then not D.

Can somebody please explain me the solution for the above CR, I am not able to comprehend the question ...Thanks

If A then B is true, then Contra positive If not B then not A holds true and vice-versa. If A then B is true does not mean If not A then not B will be true or If B then A will be true. So keeping these rules in mind.

(A) If D, then A.
Fails because If not D then not A should be true as per rules and not the option given is true.

(B) If not B, then not C.
It should be other way round and not this way.

(C) If not D, then not A.
Correct.

(D) If D, then E.
No information about E so out of scope.

(E) If not A, then not D.
This should be reversed as in option C.

Please do let me know if you still don't understand the problem.

If B, then C.
If C, then D.
Therefore, If A then D.
the contra positive is also correct - If not D then not A
(C) is correct

Thanks a lot. I need to tune myself to understand this. It's a pretty tricky one. Does anybody have more questions of this format?if so please post them.
