If Alyssa is twice as old as Brandon, by how many years is Brandon older than Clara?

(A) Four years ago, Alyssa was twice as old as Clara is now.
(B) Alyssa is 8 years older than Clara.

Let the current age of Alyssa, Brandon and Clara be A, B and C respectively.

Given, Eq1- A=2B

We need to find out by how many years is Brandon older than Clara, i.e. B-C

Statement 1: -

A-4 =2C
Substitute this in Eq 1
2B-4=2C

=> B-C = 2

SUFFICIENT

Statement 2: -

A=C+8
Substitute this in Eq 1

2B=C+8

We can't find the value of B-C

INSUFFICIENT

Correct answer is A
