Re: If F/10 = P/20, what is the value of P? [#permalink]

Where am I going wrong?

I rephrased the question as:
2F= P, so what is P?

Statement 2 gives that so I thought it is B?

Yes, 2F equals P. But the question needs a numerical value or a number as the value of P.

The explanation is below.

(1) F*P = 50
(2) P/F = 2[/quote]

Statement (1) shows that when F is 5, P is 10. It also shows that when F is -5, P is -10. Not sufficient.
Statement (2) shows that P= 2F not sufficient

Combining Statement (1) and (2) shows that P is 10 when F is 5 or P is -10 when F is -5.
P can be 10 or -10. Both statements 1 and 2 are not sufficient to determine the numerical value of P.

Therefore, the correct option is E.
