If Josephine reads b books per week and each book has, on average, 100,000 words, which best approximates the number of words Josephine reads per day?

(A) \(100,000b\)

(B) \(\frac{100,000b}{7}\)

(C) \(\frac{700,000b}{b}\)

(D) \(\frac{7b}{100,000}\)

(E) \(\frac{100,000b}{7 \times 24}\)

Josephine reads b books per week.
Josephine reads b*100000 words per week.

So per day, Josephine reads 100000b/7 words per day.

(A) \(100,000b\)

(B) \(\frac{100,000b}{7}\)

(C) \(\frac{700,000b}{b}\)

(D) \(\frac{7b}{100,000}\)

(E) \(\frac{100,000b}{7 \times 24}\)

Plug in some value for b and check, say b = 7

So, per day he reads 7/7 = 1 book...

Now, each book contains 100,000 words , so he reads 100,000 words / day

Now, plug in the value and check

(A) 700,000
(B) 100,000
(C) 700,000
(D) \(\frac{49}{100,000}\)
(E) \(\frac{700,000}{7 \times 24}\)

Hence, Answer must be (B)

Since Josephine reads 100,000b words a week, on average she reads 100,000b/7 words per day.
