if K is a positive 3-digit integer, what is the hundreds digit of K?

st1-the hundreds digit of K+150 is 4.
st2-the tens digit of K+25 is 7.

We know that K+25 is x7y from statement 2. If we put the two statements together, K could be 250 (so K + 25 is 275), but K could also be 345 (so K + 25 is 370). The answer's E.

I actually get E .

K+150 is between 400 and 499 so K is between 250 & 349.

I got C as I mistook K+25 as K (2).

Ans should be E.

Ans E: not enough equations for the # of unknowns, check it:

K = 100p + 10q + r

1. 100p + 10q + r + 150 = 100(4) + 10y + z

Not suff to find p.

2. 100p + 10q + r + 25 = 100x + 10(7) + z

Not suff to find p.

Together:

Need to find p, q, r, z with 2 equations. Not suff.
