If the number x is obtained by reversing the order of the digits in the positive 3-digit integer y, is x > y?

(1) The tens digit of y is 3.
(2) The rightmost digit of x is 1 and the rightmost digit of y is 9.

Solved in 29 seconds.

The question boils down to: if we take a 3 digit number, is its ones digit less than or greater than its hundreds digit?

(1) The tens digit of y is 3. This tells us the tens digit (middle digit), but nothing about the ones or tens digit. Insufficient.

(2) The rightmost digit of x is 1 and the rightmost digit of y is 9. This tells us that the ones digit is 9 and the hundreds digit is 1. Therefore, if we reverse the entire number, the resulting number will be greater than the original, because 9>1. Sufficient.
