A. 22
B. 24
C. 29
D. 36
E. 42

Question, what is the value of \(a^2 + b^2\)?

We can combine all of the information we have :
- \((a+b)^2\) = \(a^2+2ab+b^2\)
- \((6)^2 = a^2+b^2+2(7)\)
- \(36-14=a^2+b^2\)
- So, \(a^2+b^2=22\).

A.

a+b = 6
ab = 7
a^2 + b^2 = (a+b)^2 - 2ab = (6)^2 - 2*7 = 36 - 14 = 22
