In exponent we need to know that (a^b)^c = a^(bc).

Applying the above logic to the question at hand we get

(x*(x^5)^2)/(x^4) = (x*(x^10))/(x^4) = (x^11)/(x^4) = x^7

Hence answer is c

If x ≠ 0, $$\frac{x(x^5)^2}{x^4}$$ =

(A) x^5
(B) x^6
(C) x^7
(D) x^8
(E) x^9

$$\frac{x(x^{5*2})}{x^4}=\frac{x^{10+1}}{x^4}$$

or $$x^{11-4}=x^7$$
