1) x+y=30 NS

2) (x-y)/(y+2) = (y-2)
x=y^2-4+y

NS

1+2

x+y= y^2-4+2y
30= y^2-4+2y

If x and y are positive integers, is x/y an integer?

(1) x + y = 30 . If x = 1 and y =29, then the answer is NO but if x = 29 and y = 1, then the answer is YES. Not sufficient.

(2) (x - 4)/(y + 2) = y - 2 --> $$x - 4 = y^2 - 4$$ --> $$x = y^2$$ --> $$\frac{x}{y} = y = integer$$. Sufficient.

Hope it's clear.
