If x is equal to one of the numbers \(\frac{1}{4}\), \(\frac{3}{8}\), or \(\frac{2}{5}\), what is the value of x?

(1) \(\frac{1}{4} < x < \frac{1}{2}\)

(2) \(\frac{1}{3} < x < \frac{3}{5}\)

\(\frac{1}{4}\), \(\frac{3}{8}\), or \(\frac{2}{5}\) =====> \(0.250\), \(0.375\), or \(0.400\)

(1) \(\frac{1}{4} < x < \frac{1}{2}\) ====> (1) \(0.250 < x < 0.500\)
x could be \(\frac{3}{8}\), or \(\frac{2}{5}\)...........................NS

(2) \(\frac{1}{3} < x < \frac{3}{5}\) =====> (2) \(]0.333 < x <0.600\)
x could be \(\frac{3}{8}\), or \(\frac{2}{5}\)...........................NS

(1) +(2) ==>\(\frac{1}{3} < x < \frac{1}{2}\) ==> \(0.333 < x < 0.500\)
x could be \(\frac{3}{8}\), or \(\frac{2}{5}\)...........................NS..................Answer E

Best approach is to compare with 120*x instead of x( 120 is LCM of 3,4,5,and 8)

New question is 120x = 30,45 or 48

    (1) 30<120x <60 ...both 45 and 48 can be the values of x. Hence Insufficient. Cross off A and D
    (2) 40 <120x <72 ...both 45 and 48 can be the values of x. Hence this too is Insufficient, Cross B

1+2 is also Insufficient, Cross C

Hence, the answer is E
