To find the value of \(\frac{x}{y}\)

|x| = |y| = 3

Statement 1

\(\frac{|x|}{y} \neq \frac{x}{|y|}\)

=> \(|x||y| \neq xy\)

=> LHS is positive, so xy is negative

=> x and y have different sign

=> since |x| = |y| = 3 and x and y have different sign, \(\frac{x}{y} = -1\)

Statement 1 is sufficient

Statement 2

x = 3

=> y can be either 3 or -3 implying \(\frac{x}{y}\) can be either +1 or -1

Statement 2 is not sufficient

Hence option A

New question

Statement 1 implies, X & Y both have opposite signs. Hence answer will be -3 i.e. sufficient

Statement 2 gives value of X but Y can be positive or negative. Hence not sufficient.

Answer - A
