If xy > 6, is x > 1?
(1) 1 < y < 8
(2) 0 < x < 1
IMO ans B, (1) 1 < y < 8
(2) 0 < x < 1
Explanation :
If XY > 6, then both X and Y should be positive or both should be negative.
St.1 says Y +ve, then X should be +ve. But X can be integer (4) or non integer (0.99).
If X is integer say 4 and if Y is 2, then XY > 6 and answer to the question is "yes" X is >1.
But if X is non integer say 0.99 and if Y is 7.99, then XY>6 and answer to the question is "no" X is not > 1 .
St.2 gives straight answer X is NOT >1.
