I have to agree with everyone who has said they could never hire Jonathan Eakman...this guy has zero people skills...HE is so rude and obnoxious ..I sincerely think he has a mental or personality disorder. Makes no sense to me.
In all honesty, he will probably be just fine as an attorney - and that is not a slam on the legal profession. He could probably bark orders to a paralegal with the best of them, I'm sure he is an intelligent guy, and probably has the right measure of agressiveness to boot.
As far as getting an "outstanding" essay out of this experience for an MBA program - I'll toss the challenge (i.e. Bull$hit) flag on that one. He displayed laziness, insolence, rudeness, a severe lack of tact and a general sense of stpuidity. Fair enough if you are 19 and stupid - God knows I have done worse. But to do what he did as a man in his late 20s, at law school, and then make this meltdown public domain by sharing his correspondence on Facebook shows astonishing insouciance towards the leadership values that MBA schools seek to inflate (right or wrong).
If we the unwashed applicants are reading and chuckling at this with a sense of Schadenfreude, do you think there is a single ADCOM member at
any school that hasn't also seen this? Mr. Eakman has probably moved beyond cliche and into folklore status in the minds of ADCOMS everywhere. Unless he changes his name, he's done, and no amount of Dale Carnegie-meets-Ellis-from-"Die Hard" business pep-talk will change that. I doubt he cares, nor should we - but it is damned entertaining reading.
