Hi EMPOWERgmatRichC

1) First week of July, that's when my classes for my Kaplan course started

2) All Kaplan materials (book, practice tests, online lectures) and completed 1/2 free GMATPrep practice tests

3) Q37 V28. Like I mentioned earlier, Verbal was lower than usual. I feel like my Quant score is my level at the moment, but the verbal should of been a couple points higher.

4) Technically yes, I would just have to pay the rescheduling fee. I did schedule my test yesterday just because I didn't want to lose out on that date. My school said on their website they are willing to accept an unofficial GMAT score with my application. I don't want to reschedule unless I feel it is necessary.

Thanks

Hi canadagmatgirl,

Many Test Takers spend 3 months (or more) of consistent study time before they hit their 'peak' scores, so since you've been studying for just a little over 2 months, you might naturally improve over the next 3 weeks of study. That having been said, 3 weeks won't be enough time to significantly improve in BOTH the Quant and Verbal sections. Thankfully, you could pick up all of the points that you're looking for in either section though, so you might want to spend more time on whichever section you're more comfortable with.

1) Which section would you say you are more comfortable with?
2) Going forward, how many hours do you think you can consistently study each week?

Hi EMPOWERgmatRichC

I think I'm going to reschedule my test to October 16 to give myself another week to study, just need to confirm some things and I'll be changing it tomorrow.

1) I think verbal comes more naturally to me, but I know reading comp. is where I could use improvement. However, I spent almost all my time on practicing quant. Ive done almost 500 practice quant questions from my Kaplan question bank.

2) I work full time, 9-5. So I can get in anywhere between 1-3 hours each day for Mon-Fri and I can dedicate almost all day on weekends for studying.

Hi canadagmatgirl,

If you really haven't spent much time studying for the Verbal section of the GMAT, then it's possible that you would just need to put in the necessary effort into that section (with the existing study materials that you have) to hit your goal score. While you've self-identified RC as an area that you need to work on, you might want to purchase the Enhanced Score Report for this recent Official attempt. While the ESR doesn't contain much information, there are usually a few data points that we can use to define specific areas that you need to work on. There might be some 'easy fixes' that would help you to pick up some quick points - and it's also possible that RC is not actually your biggest 'weak spot.' If you purchase the ESR, then I'll be happy to analyze it for you.

It's funny you say that, I just got my official score report (that was fast!) and I purchased the ESR.

I actually did the best on RC, so I am surprised since I always scored lowered on that section on the practice tests. I believe I did the worst on SC.
I would post my results but the MBA.com isn't working for me right now (I feel like this happens often).

As for quant, they weren't far off, but I did better on arithmetic and lower on algebra/geometry.

Hi canadagmatgirl,

To provide the proper analysis, I'd need to see the FULL ESR. If you would rather not post it publicly, then you can feel free to PM/email it to me. To reiterate a prior point - there are a variety of different score 'combinations' that will get you to a 600+, so it is possible that you could hit your score goal simply by putting the necessary work into your Verbal studies.

Hi all,

I wrote my GMAT test this Saturday (Sep 16) and safe to say I was disappointed in my score. I was scoring between 610-630 in my Kaplan practice tests, then I took a GMATPrep test 6 days before the test and got a 530. I was pretty surprised by the score since I have read on these forums most people scored higher then their Kaplan scores.
I am looking to score a 590 at the very minimum, but I would like to score in the 600's. 600 is the score my school recommends and I believe the other aspects of my application are pretty strong.

Nevertheless, I will be rewriting my GMAT on October 10th, which gives me a little over 3 weeks of prep. Is improving by 50 points possible in 3 weeks? I did improve about 20 points from my GMATPrep score in 6 days, and I did feel like I could of done better on verbal on actual GMAT. (Paced myself poorly and had to guess on the last questions)
My application deadline is November 1st so I want to make sure there is enough time to send my scores to the school.

I still have 3 Kaplan practice tests left and one GMATPrep. Could anyone give me some tips on how I should approach studying for these next 3 weeks?

Hi

Practice your learned Concepts and time your practice. You can also take quizzes to meet the pace of GMAT. When completed all the concepts learning and handsome practice. Take full lenght CATs, know your estimated score. Analyze the result with Correct/incorrect questions, pacing analysis trace your mistakes and learn from them.

Best Mocks

1. Official GMAC (50+50$)
2. Manhattan GMAT (49$)

Good Luck
Cheers :)

Hi canadagmatgirl,

Given how close your GMAT date is, I personally do not think one should adopt any new method on the final leg of their GMAT Preparation. I think you can focus a bit on verbal. If, you are only looking to indentify and improve on your weak areas, I would encourage you to purchase the e-gmat scholaranium. It is without a doubt, one of the best practice tools for verbal and will indeed help you on the final leg of your preparations. You can also consider GMATPREP QP 1 which consist some great questions to help you with your prep. Hope this helps. All the best.
