This is pretty straightforward.

Statement 1 on simplifying you get:
J>2/5*[Total_of_Seniors]
J>40%*y (Let y be the total of seniors)
Now we could easily have another guy in the senior category having 41% and remaining to the rest.
INSUFFICIENT.

Statement 2:
On similar simplification we get:
J = 50%*[Total]
Now it is obvious that if one gets 50%, then the remaining have to be getting less than 50% as there are 9 more partners remaining.
SUFFICIENT.

B.
GKomoku
In a certain law firm there are five senior partners and five junior partners, and all senior partners receive bonuses greater than those of the junior partners. Does senior partner Johnson receive the largest bonus of the lawyers at the firm?

(1) Johnson receives a bonus greater than twice the average bonus for all the senior partners

(2) All partners receive some bonuses, and Mr. Johnson receives five times the average given to all the partners
