We have to find x as indicated above.

Statement 1

We cannot get the breakup of persons doing internship.
Not sufficient

Statement 2

We cannot get the breakup of Junior.
Not sufficient

Even after combining we dont get desired information.

what we have from question
- total college students = 42

what is required
- How many were juniors who landed summer internships

1 - 29 students out of 42 found summer internships or 42 -29 = 13 students did not find any summer internships
- clearly insufficient

2 - 24 students were juniors or 42 - 24 = 18 were seniors
- again this statement is insufficient

combining both
we have,

24 juniors and 29 students found internships

again insufficient as nothing can be said about juniors who landed summer internships!!

therefore , E
