Initially a difficulty level is set for a question. But the moment we have members using timer, the difficulty level adjusts as per the responses.

In a household, there are three individually earning members - X, Y and Z. For each of the last four years, the graph gives a detailed overview of each members propostional contribution to the family's total income. In each year depicted in the graph, the individual salaries of X, Y and Z saw an appreciation compared to the previous year. Select from the dop down the most accurate statement based on the information provided.

Based on the available information, it must be the case that, in the year , member individual salary was more than 100% of their salary in the previous year.
Actually, the graph is immediate give away. Increase in height of column is generally at 3-4 places in which the max change is in orange column in 2020 and that gives us the answer.

Let us solve now.

The following points come out of the para or statements.
  1. The set of the three columns in each year are relative to each other and add up to 100. So, we do not know what actually is the overall income.
  2. The individual salaries increase every year. So, a higher colmn followd by a lower column of same color tells us that there has been icrease in overall income.
Let us see it through one of them: Let the income be A and B for 2019 and 2020, and if you now concentrate on blue column, 22% of B is greater than 50% of A. That is 0.22B>0.5A or B>2.3A

Based on the available information, it must be the case that, in the year __1__, member __2__ individual salary was more than 100% of their salary in the previous year.

We can see from the example above that the overall income in 2020 is more than TWO times that in 2019. So, if you have a particular column of the same size or greater size in 2020, the individual income has increased more than two times. Th eORANGE column is higher in 2020 when compared to 2019.

So, 1: 2020 and 2: Y
