ANS - D it is between 40 and 80
Here's How:
35 got 80 or greater - covers (80, 81, 82,...., 100)
40 got scores of 40 or less - covers (40, 39, 38,....,0)
Students left = 100-35-40 = 25
So the median score will be scored by these 25 students and will fall between 40 and 80.

Hi Bunuel,
The 3 ranges are:
35 people scored <= 80 or 80
40 people scored >= 40
and 25 people got the same score.
The question doesn't mention the range of the score of the last category. How are we then assuming that their score would fall between 40 and 80 ?
New to stats and still struggling with it, please help.
