I, too, think that it is E. If the pro singer's employment is to continue, the assumption has to be that they helped make patrons more confident. If patrons became "more" confident, they must have been not as confident before. Therefore, we must be dealing with largely the same group of patrons.

I believe it's E, as the conclusion assumes that the guests who came on the second day had at least some of the same members as the guests on the first day and doesn't take into account the fact that the guests on the second day could've just been more confident people in general.

Is this correct?

(E) The discomfort diminished in the returning customer is an assumption because if these were not returning customers than it means the people who felt discomfort are not returning which means it is not a good idea to employee a professional singer

In a well-known karaoke club, a professional singer was hired to assist guests who had trouble staying in tune with the songs they were attempting to sing. On the first night, this caused discomfort to many of the guests who upon hearing their voices alongside that of the professional, suddenly lost confidence and felt embarrassed. On the second night, the number of singing guests who felt embarrassed by the professional's assistance was lower. Therefore, the club should not cease the employment of the professional singer, as in time the guests' discomfort will have diminished completely.

There is mention of only one professional singer in the question, not multiple. The situation is - one pro, multiple customers, and not multiple pros, multiple customers. One pro assigned to/provided for the customers.

Agree with @tde312's response. The passage only talks about a professional singer, not multiple. There is nothing mentioned in the passage about vocal frequency. Basically the idea is that only if the customers are returning can we evaluate the discomfort over time to draw the above conclusion. If we negate E), most of the guests visiting the club are not returning customers, then the conclusion will break because the discomfort wouldn't have diminished completely.

ok so for that awkwardness to go away, one needs to have several meetings. As the argument claims second day to be less awkward to the customers, for this to be true, regular or returning customers is a must.

option D is not a better option as it is supporting the premise stated in the argument rather than strenghthening the conclusion as well as filling the gap between stated premise and conclusion
