In an intercollegiate competition that lasted for 3 days, 100 students took part on day 1, 120 on day 2 and 140 on day 3. If 60 took part on day 1 and day 2 and 50 took part on day 2 and day 3 and 20 took part on all three days, how many students took part only on day 2?

A. 0
B. 10
C. 30
D. 50
E. 90

Kudos for a correct solution.

IMO : C

No you idiots. !!
Look.

60 is common to both Day 1 and Day 2.

This means that on day 1. only 40 participated.

50 is common to both Day 2 and Day 3. This means that on day 3, only 90 participated.

Now, the 60 common to both Day 2 plus the 50 common to both Day 2 and 3 add up to 110.
But Day 2 has 120. So the difference is 10 !
Only 10 participated on Day 2 !!
