In one 30 day month, Joeś computer store sold computers at their regular price for the first 15 days of the month but then sold them at a 50 percent discount off the regular price for the last 15 days of the month. If Joeś revenue for the month was \$18000, how much revenue was earned from selling computers at the discounted price?

1. The revenue earned from the sale of computers at regular price was 100 percent greater than the revenue earned from the sale of computers at the discounted price

2. The number of computers sold at the regular price was equal to the number of computers sold at a discounted price.

First 15 days price 2X and A number of computer sold.
Next 15 days price X and B number of computer sold.

Revenue: 2AX + XB =18000.
Question XB=?
St :-1
2AX= 2XB
So A=B
Revenue
2AX + XB =18000.
2BX +BX=18000
3BX=18000
BX=6000.
Sufficient.

St:2
Given A=B
Sufficient. Same as above calculation.

This problem can be solved in a much simpler way by understanding the mechanics of the problem

First 15 days price(Regular) is twice the price during the next 15 days(Discounted)

Total revenue for the month = \$18000

Revenue in the second 15 days = ?

St 1 : Revenue at regular price is 100% greater

So, ratio of revenues (at regular price : at discounted price ) = 2:1
Total = 18000
So, Revenue at discounted price = (1/3) * 18000 = 6000

Sufficient

St 2 :
number of computers at regular price = number of computers at discounted price
So, Ratio of revenues will be the ratio of the prices 2:1
Sufficient
