Among all the options we can shortlist option A and B based on modifiers since after "In spite of its limitations" we are expecting the term "electron microscopy" that is being modified.
Among A and B , in option B the meaning and the sentence construction is wrong.
Moreover i used the idiom so...... that to my advantage as well to make option A as the answer.
