Correct. "dozens of men" clearly refers to "African American males". No problem as other choices have.

"them" here could refer to "researchers" or "many African American males"
C) had performed experiments on African American males in which researchers killed dozens by receiving the incorrect treatment for syphilis from the researchers so that they could learn how the disease progresses.
This choice is awkward since it suggests that researchers receive the incorrect treatment from other researchers.
D) had performed experiments on African American males in which researchers killed dozens from receiving the incorrect treatment for syphilis from the researchers so that researchers could learn how the disease progresses.

B is incorrect here because of the errorneous "medicine necessary to survive syphilis from many African American males" part. This part changes the meaning of the sentence because it talks about african american males in general and not specifically about African-American males with syphilis.
C and D are wrong because the researchers didn't kill African-American males with syphilis, the experiments did.
E has parallelism error
