We know the length of base of the triangle, AB=3. We just need to figure out the length of altitude from C on AB, (y-0)

Basically question stem is what is the value of y

Statement 1 gives value of y
sufficient

Statement 2 gives value of x

Insufficient

Area ABC: base•height/2 = 3•y/2

(1) y = 4 sufic

(2) x = 6 insufic
