Asked: In the xy-coordinate system, what is the slope of the line that goes through the origin and is equidistant from the two points P = (1, 11) and Q = (7, 7)?

Coordinate of point equidistant from the two points P = (1, 11) and Q = (7, 7) = (4,9)

Slope of line passing through origin (0,0) and (4,9) = 9/4 = 2.25

Coordinate of point equidistant from the two points P = (1, 11) and Q = (7, 7) = (4,9)

Every point on the line perpendicular to PQ passing through O (the mid point of PQ) would be equidistant from P and Q.

How can we assume that line is going to pass mid point of given points.
As soon as I read the question, I started applying following concept of coordinate geometry that I had learnt and got -2/3 only to find no option matching my answer.

I wasted good 10-12 mins on the problem, applied 3-4 more methods, including trigonometry, congruent triangles and got -2/3 every time.

I don't see any discrepancy in the method annexed.

Equidistant point is (4 , 9)

Slope of this point from origin is 9/4 => 2.25 , Answer must be (B)

I know we must find the midpoint of (1,11) and (7,7), which is (4,9), and use that with (0,0) to get the slope.

However, this line (as a whole) isn't going to be equidistant from (1,11) and (7,7) right?

Reason - The distance of both points [ (1,11) and (7,7) ] from the origin is different.

Or is the definition of an equidistant line different from what I'm understanding?
