In the xy-plane shown, is the slope of the line L negative ?

(1) Line L passes through a point that is in quadrant 3
(2) Line L passes through a point that is in quadrant 4

The slope can be negative (red line), positive (green line) or 0 (vertical blue line):

Answer: E.

But if we combine statements 1 and 2, we can have only line passing through two points (one point in Q3 and the other in Q4). Is this not correct? how should the combination of statement 1 and 2 be interpreted?

Dear Bunuel,

Can you please explain in little detail how the red line and green line are respectively having negative and positive slope.

I cannot understand that.

Thank You in advance.

P.S.From now on I'll keep in mind and will post OA at the time of posting the question.

Thanks Bunuel. I checked the Book. It helped.

Learned about positive, negative, zero and un defined slope.
