Dealing directly with Export heads of big corporations such as Jindal Steel, Bhushan Steel, Vedanta and others. Mostly handled Middle east and Europe clients.
Also coordinated with Custom House agents for completion of documentation and Shipping of the products.

(3) Two years 3 months: One of india's Largest Group: Assistant Manager Sales: handled sales for a state and improved on sales numbers (from 35%, before I joined to 65% of Target achievement). Handled Projects worth 10 Million to 30 millions (In INR) mostly handled Govt Projects and tenders.

In my free time I try to guide as many people as i can. Achieved good results : two of them have become CA, few have gone to Engineering colleges, few joined management institute and some are preparing for Govt. services. ( This is something I believe in doing)

Choices*:

Post-MBA Goals:

What are my rough chances at the aforementioned schools? Will I benefit from an extra year of work experience?
Will age be a factor? What are other Schools which, you think, will be fit for my profile?
Any suggestions from your side will be appreciated.

Thanks & Regards,

Hi dkumar2012!

Thanks for sharing your detailed profile! I think your work experience is really strong, especially the exposure you've gained to executive-level and diverse companies. Your extracurricular track record and personal story of going abroad is really interesting too, and I think that will stand out well.

As far as challenges, I think there are two. First, your GPA. It's further in the past, but it will still be a concern. You need to perform above average for your schools on the GMAT! 700-720 will be low for some of the schools on your list. A 730-750 score would be better. The other concern is your age / experience level, and the fact that you already have an advanced degree. You will need to make a compelling case that you need an MBA, and that you need one now. And also that going full-time is best, instead of waiting another year or two and doing an executive program. So to answer one of your questions, another year of work experience will not benefit you at this point.

I think your chances at some of the schools, mainly Kellogg and Tuck, will be tough given those challenges. I like Tepper, Kelley, Ross given your goals. Also consider Carey (ASU), Krannert (Purdue), McDonough (Georgetown), Kenan-Flagler (UNC). Or possibly some schools in Canada or Europe depending on your preferences. The age factor would be less of a challenge at those schools.

Best of luck!
Kate

Happy to help! I know Mannheim Business School is good, and that might work well for you with your goals. I'm not as familiar with schools there though, but it looks like ESMT Berlin is another option.
