There are many benefits to timing your practice, including:
I am an academic who is trying to transition to the business world. In particular, I am keen to work on supply chain-related aspects, with a focus on sustainability (possibly in consumer goods). I have been looking for threads on this, but I could not find much. I am 34 and, upon earning a PhD in social sciences from Oxford (3 years ago), I have been working as a post-doc. I have also worked part-time for large international organisations as a consultant. I took my GMAT last month and got 710. I have recently submitted an application for INSEAD, which represents my top-priority - this is for a number of reasons linked to the classes they offer on subjects I am interested in. However, I am aware that given my age and GMAT score (at least according to somebody on this forum), I am not an ideal candidate. There also seems to be some mixed-opinions out there about academics shifting to the business world. What are your opinions? I would welcome your feedback. Thanks a lot
