Do the companies that hire for PM roles are tech based? (Like FAANG). I heard INSEAD curriculum focuses more on consulting and finance and less on tech roles

Yes tech based ; the titles would be more like commercial product manager.
It depends on; you can take whatever elective you want to pivot towards Tech

It is decent for PM roles, but consulting is of course its strongest suit. Also, don't compare it to PM recruiting in the US T10 - they will always be much larger. In Europe, with INSEAD, look at the big recruiters + also tech startups + roles in the Middle East as well.

Hi, I want to get into the product manager role in the future. Is INSEAD the right choice for this? If not, what other business schools would you recommend (Can be in Europe, USA and India) ? Thanks!
If your goal is to transition into a Product Manager role, INSEAD could definitely be a good fit. The school offers strong connections to the tech industry, and its global exposure and diverse network can open doors to top companies around the world. Initiatives like Digitalinsead and the Tech Club can provide you with valuable insights and resources. That said, if you're specifically looking to break into Silicon Valley or other major tech hubs, schools like Stanford, MIT Sloan, and Berkeley Haas have even more direct access to tech companies and a powerful alumni network in product management. In Europe, LBS and IESE also have strong ties to the tech industry, while in India, ISB and IIMA offer great opportunities for tech career transitions. And yes networking is important.

Feel free to reach out, if you'd like to chat more about your career goals and explore which schools would be the best fit for you. Happy to help you strategize and find the path that aligns with your ambitions!

Peterparker2 - whilst INSEAD is primarily a consulting school, grads do land PM and other general management roles in tech companies. For internationals, some English friendly geo's such as Netherlands, UK, Luxembourg and Middle-East are ideal hiring locations.

Within EU/ UK, schools like HEC Paris, IESE and Oxbridge also have good tech careers. Within the US, schools like M7's, HaaS, Ross, Stern, Foster, UNC, McCombs, etc. are strong in PM careers.

You could take a look at this article for the top B-schools for Tech/ PM careers along with their hiring stats:

Best Business Schools for a Career in the Technology Industry

Hope this helps some.

Hello Peterparker2,

INSEAD is definitely good for PM roles; having said that, at any global business school, to bag the right opportunities, one needs to do a fair share of networking; in this regard, the widespread student network will help.

Good luck!
