INSEAD MBA R4 - Consultant or No Consultant?

Hello all,
I'm applying for INSEAD Jan-16 intake, R4. I've read several posts on the necessity of hiring an admission consultant, and I'm not sure if this actually stands
I'm a Libyan, 34 yr old Business Development Manager in the Oil Services industry, I come with 10 years of experience, 8 of which are in the oil sector, the other 2 are working in the humanitarian sector including the UN World Food Programme. I have worked in Egypt, the US, and Libya. I have heavily contributed in workshops, exhibitions, and training sessions all over the world. I also have 3 entrepreneurship attempts, one of which was a success
GMAT 680, Q49, V37 IELTS 8.0 GPA 2.78
Where do I stand? and do I really need to hire an admission consultant?
I appreciate your feedback in advance

I didnt - but I did leverage my network of friends, peers and MBA graduates to review my essays.
Depends on how you feel. Since you asked, I think you would be more comfortable going with a consultant but it's not necessary from an admission perspective.
Additionally, since you are applying in r4, I do think hiring a consultant with a record for INSEAD placements makes sense to maximize your chances.

ِAnd what about my profile? Do you think I stand a chance?

Hi! I agree with Bexpat, if you feel confident with your storytelling, you shouldn't need one. I believe the consultant mostly helps you with that, maximixizing your strengths and assessing the weaknesses. If you go solo, I also suggest you use your network to review the application. If interested in a good consultant I can forward you one that works excellent and places very good in INSEAD.

Thanks a lot for your feedback. I already deal with a person that's helping me with an outsider view of my essays. However, he's not a professional "INSEAD oriented" MBA consultant, but i think he does the job
My other question is, with my portfolio and experience, do you think I stand a chance?

I think that you have an excellent WE, but why an MBA and not an EMBA might be a question the adcom might have. Also, if you could higher up your GMAT a bit you'd be on a better spot. But besides that, I think that with your profile you should definitely give it a shot.

I totally agree with the EMBA remark, and i got it covered. However, it'll be difficult to rewrite the GMAt now considering the tight time frame (R4 deadline is August 5th)

Go for it then! You're good on the Quant. Hope to see you there in January, I don't think your gmat is a red flag.
